First post of 2021!
Today we saw an Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) on a beach at sandy point. At first it was swimming quite far out (not that far though) but then some people dumped the remains of their fishing trip (Fish heads, it was legal) which caused it come over. In photos 1 and 2 it is scooping up a fish head and in photos 3 and 4 it is eating the fish. The was also a lot of pacific gulls (Larus pacificus, who can be seen in pictures 3-5) who were fighting over the fish remains. After all the fish had been eaten the Pelican proceeded to swim further along the Inlet.
Happy anniversary BEB!
