At fleming park today I saw a Tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) mother with two chicks!!! I was sitting on the grass at fleming park and one of the chicks turned around and I could see its lower body, but I thought it was just a very big pigeon, I went to investigate anyway and found it was a Tawny frogmouth with its two chicks! This is exciting because Tawny frogmouth are VERY well camouflaged, the adults can look like a log, except the chicks didn't have their grown-up feathers, with white/light-grey feathers, that sort of gave them away. When I was looking through my bird-spotting telescope, I could see the birds looking right at us, because they have amazing vision and could probably see us very clearly. They were very high up and we couldn't get a good close-up photo just using a phone camera zoom so me and my dad rushed home to get my bird spotting telescope and we took the photos through the telescope.
